What Logsmith Processes

Logsmith is a video labeling tool. Understanding what data we handle is important.

Your video files never leave your machine. Logsmith processes footage locally using ffprobe and ffmpeg. The actual video data stays on your computer at all times.

What does cross the network: clip metadata (timecodes, durations, filenames), compressed frame thumbnails (JPEG images extracted for vision analysis), and play-by-play data fetched from public sports APIs. This data is sent to our intelligence server for alignment, vision analysis, and label generation.

Data We Collect

Account data: Email, name, and password hash when you register. We do not store your password in plain text.

Payment data: Handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID but never see or store your credit card number.

Session data: When you run a labeling session, clip metadata and frame descriptions are temporarily stored on our server for the duration of the session. This data is used to power alignment, vision analysis, and label generation.

API key usage: We log when your API key is used (timestamp, tool called) for billing and rate limiting. We do not log the content of your labeling sessions.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide the Logsmith service, process payments, and improve the product. We do not sell your data. We do not use your footage metadata to train AI models. We do not share your data with third parties except as required to operate the service (Stripe for payments, MongoDB Atlas for session storage, Google Gemini for vision analysis).

Third-Party Services

Stripe: Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.

Google Gemini: Vision analysis of frame thumbnails. Frame images are sent to Google's Gemini API for analysis. Subject to Google's AI terms of service.

ESPN: Public play-by-play and roster data fetched on your behalf. No personal data is sent to ESPN.

Data Retention

Session data (clip metadata, vision descriptions) is retained for 30 days after the session ends, then deleted. Account data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is removed within 30 days.
